Liverpool Tate GLAM! - The Performance of Style

I wasn't really sure what to expect of this exhibition, but was really looking forward to going after seeing the image used on the advertisements as it really intrigued me.  On entering the exhibition I wasn't sure where to look, the walls were covered in images and artefacts from the 70's including photographs of Osmonds fans at  a gig in Manchester, old Bowie posters and a room full of disco balls, heels and tacky 70's ornaments.
The further round the exhibition I got the more I began to like it, seeing photographs of people in their  bedsits covered in glamorous posters, transformed by their fabulous outfits to Andy Warhol's simple shoe illustrations.

However there was one piece in this exhibition I was amazed by, Franz Gertsch's painting 'At Lucianos house'. This photo realist painting captured three teenagers dressing up and transforming themselves for the androgynous glam scene.

'I am interested in people and their freedom. I could never paint someone in a suit'
